Hello friends,

You are invited to Hibbleton Gallery’s next exhibit: An American Comedy: An Art Show and Book Release Party! This is a release party for Jesse La Tour’s first book: An American Comedy! You can buy the book (for only 5 bucks) and look at drawings from the book! This event is FREE and open to the public. The opening reception is Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6-10pm, during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk.

For the past ten years or so, Jesse La Tour has written in his journal pretty much every day. An American Comedy is a memoir based upon these journal entries. You can read about Jesse’s problems with health insurance, running for Fullerton city council, the ups and downs of Hibbleton Gallery, Del Taco deals, and much much more!

Included in the book are lots of drawings that go along with the story. It is called An American Comedy, but some parts are rather sad. It is an epic of ordinary life, set mostly in Fullerton, California!

Hope to see you there!

Love,

Hello friends,

You are invited to Hibbleton Gallery’s next exhibit “Recycled Lunacy” featuring artwork by local artist Marjorie Kerr. The opening reception is Friday, January 6, 2012, from 6-10pm, during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk. This exhibit is FREE and open to the public.

Marjorie Kerr has shown her work at the Hunt Branch Library, the Muckenthaler Cultural Center, the Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University, the Atrium Gallery at CSUF, the Orange County Fair, the Irvine Fine Arts Center, and in the International Cartoon Symposium Exhibition.

Artist’s Statement: The moon and planets are symbols that have appeared in my artwork since the 1980′s. The moon is a strong feminine symbol since early times, ie. Ishtar, Hathor and Artemis. The moon influences the tides and has the mysterious connection between the lunar cyles and physiological cycle of woman. Three pages are devoted to moon symbols in “A Dictionary of Symbols” by J. E. Cirlot. My color symbol goes along with the lunar image. The red symbolizes life giving and energy while black and grey represent mystery and death.

Hope to see you there!

Love,
